HISTORY OF LYNN VALLEY

The history of Lynn Valley in North Vancouver dates back to the late 1800s. The area was first settled by members of the Squamish Nation, who called the areaLynn, meaningpeaceful haven. The first settlers to the area were European settlers, who began to develop the area into a bustling community. Lynn Valley was named after John Lynn, an early settler who arrived in the area in 1886. He was a carpenter and builder and owned the Lynn Valley Lumber Mill, which was the first business in the area. The mill supplied lumber to many of the new homes and businesses that were being built in the area. In the early 1900s, Lynn Valleys population began to grow as more people moved to the area for work. A number of industries began to appear in the area, including a sawmill, a jam factory, and a brickworks. The area also had a few stores, a post office, and a school.

In 1912, the Lynn Valley Suspension Bridge was built to connect the community with Vancouver. This bridge was the first of its kind in British Columbia, and it provided easy access to the city for the residents of Lynn Valley. By the 1920s, the area had become a popular destination for people looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The area was known for its stunning scenery and was a popular destination for hikers and climbers. In addition to the outdoors activities, there were also a number of amenities such as a golf course, a library, and a swimming pool. During the 1950s, the area began to grow and develop even further. New homes and businesses were being built, and the area was becoming a popular destination for tourists. The Lynn Valley Centre, a shopping mall, was built in the late 1950s, and it quickly became the hub of the community.

In the 1960s, Lynn Valley saw a huge influx of new residents, as people moved to the area to take advantage of the booming economy.
